  2. Is there an advantage to the Kirin vs the 888? What about EMUI 12 vs HarmonyOS?
Also, I have heard other reviewers say the global version is stuck on Widevine L3… You said Level 1.

  3. I do like Huawei phones but I don't know if anyone else has this problem, here in Germany the banking apps don't work properly or at all without google services. Besides, I don't like the fact that I am forced to download apps from third parties with all the risks that this implies, I don't care how much people say it is safe, if even from Google's official store we can get sometimes malware, imagine what else could be lurking on those other stores…

  4. I have a Matepad 11 and I don't quite agree about Appgallery. A lot of apps are missing and many aren't optimized and don't work properly. I get a lot of slow motion when using a third-party browser and some Huawei apps aren't very optimized for tablets themselves.

  5. A really nice phone from Huawei. I am impressed that they were able to keep temperatures in check with the hot 888 soc. I feel the same way Chris the lack of GMS, won't hinder in the use of this great phone👍👍👍.

  6. I honestly think this phone would be usable even without Google Services pre-installed, but the 1,200 EUR is too much to ask. Excellent cameras (as usual).

  7. This is just sad. Huawei, even overpriced, without google stuff, kicked in the butt still looks much better then anyone on the market right now. Samsung just iterate and it looks like they fix one bug in new phone generation to bring dozen new ones. Xiaomi is like a cheap phone that has better packaging, but they still can't make quality device. Apple with iPhone is another story. And other company, they almost no exist in many markets.

  8. Hmm considering the price, it's way off my price range. I still have a P30 Pro and therefore I'm still glad Huawei is keeping up with the camera department, although I was expecting some more. But clearly I understand they are living on the edge, after the ban. The audio quality in the recordings ain't good, considering the bitrate so low (Xiaomi like). I wonder why selling a phone at 1,000€+ and give the users such a bad audio quality! (hopefully a patch is on the way). GSPACE helps with Google apps, but Gpay and Android Auto won't work. Better than nothing. Would I go for this phone? At 600€, my price range, yes. At 1,000€+ no way.

  10. Still with my Huawei P30 Pro but due for an upgrade now. Still blown away by the camera in my smartphone, especially when it's like a full moon and I take a picture, you see the craters and everything, people get their iPhone out and all they get is a funky light blob in the sky. Argh… wish the US sanctions didn't hit them so hard, because they were on the right track. I don't care what the allegations are. I mean, as if Google, Apple, Samsung & co are flippin' saints, just feels like they wanted to appoint someone as scapegoat. Don't know, darn shame, but I've gotta look elsewhere now. Too bad OnePlus x Hasselblad didn't quite pan out to be what I was expecting. Sony seems to be heading in the right direction with the Xperia 1 III and PRO-I but too expensive. Xiaomi could be doing great things partnering up with Leica on the MI 12 Ultra? Vivo X70 Pro Plus been out for a minute but is still impressing me the most in terms of camera performance and value. Just don't get why they haven't been readily available in Europe… I suppose Vivo and OPPO might release a few new models this year, I guess at some point I'll have to make the switch to one of those!

  11. Searched for a review on the channel just the day before and, voila!
    Great review!
Btw, i'm really satisfied with my oneplus 8T – on which i decided after watching your video.
    Thank you!

  12. God I feel bad about Huawei… They're definitely bleeding money and putting an eye-watering price on this won't help their cause.
Come on, 1200 euros for an 8/256 configuration??!!!!
And don't forget the lack of Google services.
It would have been a totally different story if the starter price was around 699 euros.
I know it's silly to compare but Motorola has their G200 with the 888+ and that one sells for 450 euros!

  13. I've own many phones since I got my first smart phone back in 2008 with the iPhone 1. But I can safely say the only 2 phones I truly enjoyed for its time were the iPhone 4 in 2010 and Huawei mate 20 pro when I got it in 2018, which I'm still using. It's the phone I've used the longest and for a reason. I am so sold on this phone that I told myself I'm never changing to any other brands from now on. I'm still pissed with the US for the ban. Forget security issue, it's so obvious because they can't keep up with the competition and they simply used this as a convenient excuse. And I know this as Huawei were just about to move way ahead of its competition at that time just from my experience with this phone. Now I'm stuck on what to get for my new phone. Everything else seems like a downgrade. But I do need Google services. I'm so pissed and in a dilemma.

  14. Really feel for Huawei, flagship phone with only 4G😥😓
Android 11 at launch when 12 have been available for some time 🤔

Huawei is dead here in my country now, great shame 😓

  15. Good to see Huawei still hanging in there, good device at a killer price considering what else is available and imminent new generation releases from Samsung. Great review as usual

  16. Hi,Chris! Please, tell me the name of the tune, that you use in the video when you show sample camera photos. It's beautiful!
