Earth’s population is ever increasing. The challenge: housing, homes, affordable for all.
How can we use new technology to create new spaces where there’s none left? How can sustainable construction revolutionize the construction industry?

This documentary searches for answers – presenting innovative concepts for the challenges facing humanity. The objective: humane housing in ever shrinking space.

“We are rethinking how we will build in the future. Those problems come to us with every project. But we choose not to see them. We choose to make architecture the autonomous object, taking the brief only from the client while we also have the responsibility for society. We have to explain our ambitions as architects to expand the agenda, be clever and respectful and honest. We have to teach young architects about this and talk much more about this.”
Rahul Mehrotra, Professor for Urban Design

Poly Concrete should get more backup to publicize. Can turn out to future of building blocks if its productution stays economical.

Urban planning simulaton from MIT Media Lab can prove to me revolutionary in the architecture if it functions to its full capability. It only gets better as more and more data is fed to the model to stimulate. Correct planning for space is so crucial for designing suitable architecture and transit spaces in today's rapiding urbanising cities.

Max Shwitalia vision is something we should strive for – humane and inspiring.

The multifunctional space idea is just depressing. The documentary speak about how current urbanisation and planning makes us feel isolated and alone.. and the proposition is to put people into these small multifunctional spaces.

We do not need to keep finding ways to accommodate more and more people. We need to drastically reduce the human population and the stressors involved with our profound overpopulation. Like it or not, we can not continue at this rate of population increase. We fix it now or the planet will fix it later. White Euro planners are just so ridiculous.

Is there any way to modify the narrator's voice? It's too low and terribly jarring. Do laptop settings allow for bass adjustments?

All of that is just old solutions in new fabric , architects nowadays are dinosaurs of innovation due to very limited engineering skills.. unfortunately nice images it's not enough…. That's why even they still dreaming about being like theirs colleges two centuries ago, they are not able to propose any revolutionary solution for humans problems… Without new engineering solutions like new technologies materials and good support from business/economic people nothing is going to change… unfortunately that is sad true. We are not able to win with 3 dimensional world and gravity….at least in this moment there are still places in the world where 200years old ideas can make a difference, only they need to be properly applied and adjust to current needs…

Wow! We really need to provide such solutions to prevent the future catastrophe of urban sprawl in our cities, mostly in Africa where we have countless opportunities. I'm exited to be part of this big project.

OVERPOPULATION, POVERTY, IGNORANCE, MEDIOCRITY, IS WHAT WE HAVE TO FIGHT.
WE JUST HAVE THIS PANDEMIC, AND I THINK THAT WAS JUST A , WARNING, WE CAN APPROACH A MUCH MORE BIGGER MAJOR DISASTER, NOR JUST A PANDEMIC, BUT ENVIROMENTAL DISASTER.
IT IS GOOD TO ORGANISE, THE LIVING CONDITIONS, BUT THE ECONOMY SYSTEM IS OLD AND MEDIOCRE, IS NOT HELPING. NOW THEY SAY THAT WITH CRYPTO-CURRENCY ALL THIS IS GOING TO CHANGE, BUT IT WILL BE JUST FOR THE FEW AGAIN AND WELL INFORMED, WE NEED TO CREATE AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM THAT BREAKS THE WHOLE ASPECT OF POVERTY, WE NEED TO PUSH HARDER FOR EDUCATION, BUT IS NOT JUST ABOUT GOING TO SCHOOL, BUT TO AWAKE CONSCIOUSNESS, WE DO NOT LIVE IN THE TIMES OF EDWARD BERNAYS, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE LACKING OF CONSCIOUSNESS, WE HAVE TO CHANGE , OUR ENVIROMENT IS ERODING FASTER,AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FORCE TO PUSH TO PROTECT IT, AT THIS TIME, EVERY ONE IS DAY DREAMING ABOUT HOW TO BECOME A BILLIONAIRE, THIS IS GOING TO CATCH TO ALL OF US BY IRREVERSIBLY SURPRISE, LIKE AN AVALANCHE.
I LOVE ARCHITECTURE, IS ONE OF THE THINGS I LIKE MOST, BUT THE ARCHITECTS, THE SCIENTIST, THE GOVERNMENT, THE BILLIONAIRES NEED TO TAKE THIS WITH MORE STRENGHT, STRICTLY, IT IS A SHAME TO SEE THAT THE GOVERMENT IS DIVIDED BY REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS, NOTHING CHANGES, BUT LOOK OUT INTO THE STREETS, LOOK AT THE BIG CITIES, LOOK AT DETROIT, AND MANY URBAN PLACES, HOW THE TAXES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING, THE STREETS ARE MORE AND MORE EVERY YEAR WITH MORE DRUGS, VIOLENCE, AND STUPIDITY, MORE MEDIOCRITY.
IT IS GOING TO CATCH TO ALL OF US LIKE AN AVALANCHE I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT PROFETIC, IT IS OBVIOUS.
WE'LL SEE.
WE NEED TO AWAKE CONSCIOUSNESS. OR ACCEPT INEVITABLY THE HORRIBLE CONSEQUENCES.
CONSCIOUSNESS!!!

Amazing doco. Thanks. But more mention of plants, and biophilic design, which should be incorporated with all modern architect so as to nurture our connection with nature and want to save it.

What an awful plan for people with children. But since awful people like this plan to exclude ordinary people from reproducing, it's not a problem to them.

@10:00 all very good Mr German Arquitect. BUT you're designs are obviously appealing to the middle and upper middle class for a start who can afford to live in such a place. That's NOT where we have a problem. Poor people, over populated, over crowded, IS the problem. Your designs will be well suited for the next planet those from Earth can escape to. BUT here, on this ridiculously overcrowded planet, your pretty designs aren't ever going to work in Bombay, Delhi, Sao Paolo or London. @14:49 your 9 block design reduces the square meterage by half or more. So where do you put those who you've displaced ? ALSO, you continue the discrimination between rich and poor with your designs. Clearly providing large glass structures for rich people, and dark square BORING boxes (@15:0215:05) with small windows, perpetuating the difference between the haves and the have-nots. Do poor people not need light as well ? And while you're glibly riding around, alone, on your bike, add another 200 people trying to do the same on those narrow winding paths, weaving between pedestrians and your idea collapses into chaos. So….?

OK, i want ORI (the origami-based tech) in my house. I have a simple small one level ranch-home style building, and my space is limited. Having a multi use kitchen/diningroom/livingroom will allow me to use my available space better for when I have visitors over and I can have more space for bookshelves put up to store my manga collection. Definitely gonna look into to it.

These multi use furniture systems are great and available now. Problem is that they are too expensive for most of us.

The only way I see to make cities liveable is that you must pass laws that require a certain percentage of all spaces must be designated for low income housing.

Carin Wiseman 26/11/2021 - 8:02 Chiều

I hope all the lowest tiers of these buildings are reserved for old people, as I don't think I'll be riding an ebike anytime soon. Maybe an electric cart, but then you need to design some way for me to store that by my front door. Another problem is social structures for how in the future you maintain and repair these communal structures without that promoting division.

The reason you look at skyscrapers with a lot of the lights out is due to greed. The landowners want more for the area than possible tenants want to pay.
